Tranquil, beautiful, historic, scenic, very nice people, long promenades by the sea and non commercial port, and calm, including the drivers. The centro is old, has winding streets, an immense castle/fort, an 11th century cathedral (you dont meet them often), and a small old Byzantine chapel - San Pietro - with a custoduan who will give you a description in writing for free to help you understand the surviving frescos which will keep you there longer than you'll probably spend in the cathedral. Many reasons to take photos at every turn, down streets, out from town, then from the peninsula, with its new builds and one very old church, of the town, especially at night. Many restaurants with out door patios and a variety of prices, great fresh fish & seafood selections. Beaches and concrete piers from which to swim, down from the promenade that skirts the old town/centro. When's the last time you went to vist the historic centre of a town and said gee i wish i'd brought my bathing suit & a towel. And a lot of free parking lots with a lot of spaces a short walk to the old centro citta. When i come back to Puglia, i'm staying a week in Otranto for all these reasons, especially if i've been to & drove in Lecce, Galipoli, Monte Sant'Angelo or Taranto

Having grown up at Otranto Place, Sandycove, Dublin, I had always wanted to visit! Unlike its Dublin namesake, it is a little down at heel, BUT I loved it all the more! Has character, history, cultural sights to see (the castle made famous by Horace Walpole and the amazing Tree of Life mosaic in the Cathedral). A town beach and nearby to other lovely beaches & beach clubs. Lots of good meals but two exceptional places - Frontemare, on the sea front and very cute L'Ortale in the heart of the old town. Stayed at Relais Valle Dell'Idro, 8 mins walk out of the old town, charming and good value.

It is a very nice little city with lots of restaurants and bars for any kind of public. The sea has a wonderful colour, it is super clean (at least while we were there) and behind the lighthouse there is a super beach with rocks, it looks simply GREAT.

We enjoyed walking around the town and beach area.
We enjoyed walking around the town and beach area. We travelled to the Bauxite Lake which was nearby and hiked around it and then down to the ocean. A highlight was going south and swimming in the Adriatic and Ionian Seas. We hired a boat for the two of us for 3 hours for 60 Euros. It was absolutly amazing and the grotto's were beautiful. The water color was just amazing! A highlight of our trip to southern Italy.

It is a really attractive town, with pretty streets, a castle and a lovely old cathedral. The cathedral has some spectacular Byzantine floor mosaics. In grim contrast, the Martyrs Chapel contains the bones of 800 Christians massacred by the Turks in 1480. We spent an enjoyable couple of hours exploring and ended up for a good mojito and beer on the front.
Beautifully decorated modern room on one floor of an old family home. Silva, the owner and host was extremely hospitable and friendly, offering us cake and a drink when we arrived, in addition to a most delicious and generous breakfast, complete with scrambled eggs made to order! The hotel is located within a 5 minute walk of the Otrantro waterfront...with stunning ocean views and many wonderful restaurants to choose from. The old town there is small, but delightful to walk around. One of our fav spots on trip.
This rural property was lovingly and carefully restored by the owners, Valentina and Guiseppe. Valentina’s grandparents were the original owners/residents.
The feeling is very open countryside, yet Masseria Agreste is only a few kilometers from the heart of wonderful Otranto.
The rooms are gorgeous and spacious - updated yet retaining the rural feeling.
Valentina and Guiseppe are warm, amazing, helpful hosts. Each morning’s breakfast was delicious as well as creative. Sabrina, the “server” is delightful.
The Bio&B is located in walking distance to the Old Town of Otranto. The room was spotlessly clean, spacious and nicely decorated. The breakfast was exceptionally good with homemade cakes, sweets, bread, marmelade and products from the own garden. For us, it was the best breakfast we ever had in any B&B. Additionally, it is served in the wonderful garden full of flowers. Lucia and Vincenzo are great hosts! Welcoming, friendly, helpful. Thank you for making our stay special.
The property was in a perfect location. Steps to the beach and town. The hotel is beautiful and modern. The full breakfast they served was delicious. Eleanora ( front desk staff )was amazing. She went out of her way to assist us with directions to nearby towns. We also met the owner who treated us like family.I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone visiting Otranto
Really interesting hotel with a nautical museum which we loved. The breakfast and restaurant service were really nice. The location we think was the best in Otranto - a short 2 min walk to the historic centre and much better than staying on the touristy main corso. The staff were very helpful - Paola in particular, who was lovely and helped us book a boat trip.
Despite 10 min walk to beaches and the old town....Franco & Nana are among the best hosts I've ever come across in a B&B. Kind, courteous, helpful, full of fun and just the right amount of wish to please. Top that with immaculate rooms fit for a luxury hotel....cannot recommend Vele Sorrento highly enough...just book and stay. Ron
A lovely family-run hotel in a great location in the town of Otranto. Our room was ocean-facing with a nice balcony. The bathroom was small but clean, the room was very comfortable and decor was nice. Breakfast in the restaurant on the main floor was good. Staff were very polite and helpful, especially with parking and check in.
We loved this hotel. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The hotel has a lovely roof terrace with great views. The staff were so helpful and friendly. I felt at home, as soon was we arrived there. The breakfast was the best I have had in Italy!!! Highly recommended!!
Beautiful accomodation and large room (super clean as well), amazing breakfast and super friendly owners. Everything was just perfect and the best place to stay in Otranto, only 10 minutes walking to the centre. We also enjoyed the beautiful pool and garden.
The greatest hosts of all time. The way they took care of and welcomed their guests was reason enough for us to see this was the best accommodation we had stayed at during our 2 week trip. Excellent location as well, and very clean facilities. Thank you !!!!
The location was fantastic, near the beach, restaurants, lots of attractions like the historic port and the old town.
Breakfast was good, the hotel have a rooftop view from the city. Everything was ok for a night in Otranto.
This is the best place we’ve staying in three weeks traveling Puglia. It is exceptionally charming and the host was friendly and happy. the breakfast was excellent. I would go out of my way to stay here again.
Beautiful room and environment. The breakfast was excellent. The best part is the owners. They are so nice and accommodating. They even showed us local coffee and pastries from Puglia.
Beautiful decorated, super clean, nice personnel, great swimming pool, beautiful garden and close to the city centre of Otranto. Really worth it visiting this accommodation!
Great place to stay. 5 minute drive from the beautiful town of Otranto. Walking distance to one of the best beaches on this coast. The staff is very helpful.
